Dreamy Elopement in a Far Away Land - Azores Elopement Wedding, Portugal
Elopements are such a great option for couples travelling to the Azores, all year round. You’re guaranteed a breathtaking scenery, no-frills ceremony with only a few close family and friends present — or perhaps no one at all. Elopements have overall better flexibility, budgeting options and of course, it’s just utterly romantic and special to read your private vows in a faraway land.
Never have I ever predicted I'll be photographing an utterly romantic elopement in the Azores. The islands weren't even on my radar when Kate and Sully enquired to get married. They are friends with one of my past couples (who eloped in Ireland) and wanted to travel somewhere special to say their vows and create those memories together. Back and forth between the West Coast of Ireland and Iceland, Kate eventually suggested the Azores.
Located in the middle of Atlantic, off the coast of Portugal, nearly halfway between their homeland in Nantucket, and Ireland itself. We scheduled the flights for the middle of November and we were all buzzing.
I LOVE elopements. I consider them my perfect little planning and styling adventures because I love organising things. Location scouting, planning the day, booking locations for dinner, flowers, organising vows, driving and filming everything is what my boyfriend and I do on a regular elopement. It's a day we spend with the couple if they chose to elope just themselves and leave their family at home. We are their supporters, helpers and entertainers for the whole day! I'm grateful to be able to help shape their magical day, give them my best advice and experience.

One choice isn’t inherently better than the other; it’s an intensely personal decision, but I’m always glad couples stay true to themselves and trust me in photographing such a big moment.
Best of 2019 / Hello Sugar Photography
Welcome to another year crazy cats! So many of you can now say ‘‘we are getting married this year!’’ and I’m delighted for you, can’t wait to capture your wedding and give you the best memories. Honestly, 2019 was a crazy one in a good way, with so many weddings abroad, editorials organised, miles driven, French pastries consumed, workshops attended, cameras fried... Wedding photography is such a fulfilling job and those who say ‘‘it must be amazing to travel and capture the best day of peoples life's'' I say it is! I feel so blessed and grateful to be a part of your journey.
